International Year Of The Ocean Launched

The Clinton Administration this week launched the federal government's Year of the Ocean campaign to highlight the important role the ocean plays in the daily lives of all Americans.

The campaign includes a variety of activities throughout the year with a variety of partners, both in the public and private sector. The campaign features a colorful poster of marine life donated by artist Steve Shachter; a companion guide talking about the species depicted on the poster; a print public service announcement that has already been seen in Coastal Living magazine; a television public service announcements narrated by Ted Danson, founder of the American Oceans Campaign; and a brochure that includes an insert with information about how to help the ocean.

You can "dive into" the International Year of the Ocean by visiting the Web Site (www.yoto.com) or calling the toll-free number to get more information and materials (888-4YOTO98).
