NATIONAL OCEAN CONFERENCE

WHAT: Demonstrating the Administration's commitment to addressing critical ocean
issues, President Bill Clinton and Vice President Al Gore will attend the National Ocean
Conference in Monterey, Calif. The conference is the first of its kind. It is designed to bring together leaders from academia, business and industry, public interest groups including environmental and other non-profit interests, as well as state, local, and federal government officials who will work to form a common vision for the future of the ocean. The conference will highlight the important role the ocean plays in our daily lives.

MEDIA REGISTRATION: All press covering the conference must request and obtain a registration form by no later than June 10. In order to enter the Naval Postgraduate School grounds, media must have registered in advance. Registration forms can be obtained by visiting the National Ocean Conference Web site at www.yoto98.noaa.gov and clicking on the "National Ocean Conference" button or by calling Colleen Angeles at (408) 647-4255.

PRESS ROOM: A Press Room will be open at 101A Spanagel Hall at the Naval
Postgraduate School beginning on Wednesday, June 10. The Naval Postgraduate School is located at 1 University Rd. in Monterey.
