(Callorhinus ursinus) The North Pacific fur seal is found on both sides of the Pacific Ocean from about 32 degrees North to the central Bering sea, and is the most common species of fur seal in northern waters. They feed on a variety of species, including pollock, herring, capelin and squid. Over two-thirds of the population breeds on Alaska's Pribilof Islands. During the rest of the year, Northern Pacific fur seals will rarely touch land, but will remain between 10 and 100 miles from shore.
